A cell profiling company in Cambridge wanted a motorized stage with high load capacity, high travel range and the capability to work in an inverted platform. Typically, this is quite challenging as inverted microscopy stages are designed to allow significant clearance below the stage, which compromises load capacity, and often do not have travel greater than the dimensions of a well plate (110 mm x 75 mm).
To overcome these limitations, Prior modified the standard H116 XY stage, which has a travel range in excess of 200 mm x 200 mm, and a load capacity of 25 kg, to allow it to be used with inverted imaging system. As a result of our consultative process and pre-existing technology, the client produced a significant number of prototypes of their system quickly and could be confident that the customized stage would be reliable throughout their remaining development cycles.
Using a customized component in this way helped them to prove their initial system concepts quickly allowing them to enter new global markets.
